I just watched this on the Roku channel. It's so sad that women had very little help in these cases during that time period, and it was even worse as the years go back. Men controlled the money, they knew their wives would either go to their parents or someone else they both knew well, so the wives could be easily found, and many women were told by their own parents, especially their mothers, that it's all a part of a marriage because "men are just that way". By the grace of God, I've never been abused and was told that I could always return home instead of staying in the relationship. I know someone who grew up seeing her dad beat her mom regularly, he also beat her, and then she married an abusive/controlling man. He's been bold enough to put her down and threaten her in front of me. She has to look at him before answering a question someone asks her, she has to be home at a certain time, she has two friends she can visit (including me) and has to check in to show a photo, video so he'll see that she's with me or the other girl. 🙄 She won't leave because she's never been on her own and said she doesn't know how it would be. Even her grown children, especially her daughter has mentioned leaving him to her. I'm not afraid of him and I let him know it when he thought he could say something demeaning about me _to_ me, about me, but I don't say very much because I feel like he'll take it out on her. I haven't seen this movie since I was quite young, but do remember some of it and others about abuse, and my mom telling me to always speak up if any man puts his hands on me. I feel so bad for those who had/have no loving support. It was nice to see three actresses from "Little House on the Prairie" in the same movie. Karen Grassle aka Caroline Ingalls Ketty Lester aka Hester Sue Alene Wilson aka you Hester Sue (episode A Christmas They Never Forgot). Prayers for all the victims, female and male because men are abused, too. "Men Don't Tell" is a good movie about that.

A wonderful example of he human defense system. Chirchill spoke as if the rescuing of soldiers from Dunkirk was some form of victory. This is similar to the IDFwho called bringing three dead hostages from Gaza as, ""We rescued three hostages.".

I did not think this was very realistic, The lines the child was assigned were very few and boring. It did not give the viewer a clear picture of an abused child. The mothers charactor is mental illness. She is displayed as anti social and disinterested in life clearly. That would be a clear sign of depression. Many families are like this in the USA. most states have laws on the books that allow hitting a child for disipline measures IF you do not leave bruses and the hit is not strong enough to hurt the child. So, that changes this hitting verbage in this movie. The child is not involved in anything we guess, And thats not normal or anything. Just an odd movie to me. Finally towards the end we understand that this is a story of an abused kid. Humm ok and a bad marriage? He does not pay attention to the child much at all. Most of what this girl actor says is this annoying "Mommy..........on and on " The end is the most realistic. The center she is put in is tramatic. Today she would of been put in a terrible foster home and would have a high possibility of abuse there too.

It’s so hard making a WW2 movie in the late 1960’s or early 70’s when it’s suppose to be early 1940’s. I like the air conditioning units on the outside of the apartment buildings ha ha.

You know, I've known about Trump for years. I thought that game show thing he did was dumb. But over the last 10 years my attitude has changed tremendously. All the things he did for our country, all the things the left has done to him, has forced me to love him. If they cheat us out of this next election in favor of the left and democrats, our country is a goner.

A victim of an alcoholic are the people they hurt, also it's themselves as hard as that is to read when U have lived with a parent who suffers with alcoholism. An alcoholic doesnt want to be one, it's a disease! Most the time it's hereditary. Yes they choose to go get the next drink but it's like a force they can't stop, then things get out of control. My father was an alcoholic! It was very painful and all the people who commented are correct, but please be careful if U don't have this disease!! I learnt that alcoholics feel guilty alot of the time which is why it's such a vicious cycle because it makes them want to drink more from what the counsellor said to me! Us victims have every right to be mad and put our feelings into comments because it was very traumatic and hurtful when we suffered because of our parents disease! But please I beg of U to not voice it over films like this🙏🙏🏾 my dad tried to get better and watched films and read comments and it made his triggers of guilt come back, we all know what happened next! It's a disease, they genuinely can't help the force that drives this, yes they need to own up to everything they have done and do the right thing when soba! They need to take responsibility for their actions!! Full stop! But to help them to this process we also need empathy, as hard as that is after what we suffered, also hold them accountable! These days we know it's hereditary so it's an actual gene that people have! The same as a type of cancer that runs in the family! Nobody blames people for having cancer. This is a very difercult thing for me to say because I lived through the trauma of it. But to truly understand this disease is to truly grow emotional intelligence, to have dealt with, and always will deal with the pain caused by this disease from the person who suffers with it. Remember that forgiveness means U don't have to like the person, or what they have done, U don't have to be around them or even accept them as a person in Ur life! Forgiveness will set Your heart free! It will help you to recover from the pain U suffered! Just please always remember to PRAY for the alcoholic in Ur life! U can only do that when U have truly forgiven them in Jesus name Amen 🙏🙏🏾🙏🙏🏾🙏🙏🏾🙏

You don't throw your knife. As one of my mentors and close working partner of my dad's, once instructed me, "Never throw your knife. You are just arming your enemy." He was OSS behind German lines and actually killed a few sentries with a knife. Dear old dad, both men of legendary status, was no slacker, either. I have personally seen many a man killed with a knife, none thrown. Stabbed through the neck, kidney, or heart.

God made all people from one man, Adam. All people are brothers. Unfortunately, the lying and corrupt clirgy is silent about this. They even bless racists and nazis in the name of God. The problem is that the Devil rules the world. He is a liar and a murderer. This is why deception and violence are everywhere. This is the reason why people cry over stray cats and hate their brothers. This is the reason why Hitler got the power, but Christ was executed as "blasphemer" and "rioter" by denunciation of clergy. This is the reason why the whole world is Sodom. That's why we have the Gospel about the Kingdom of God. Jehovah will put everything in order. He has anointed the king, Jesus Christ. The dead will rise and we will meet our loved ones again! :-)
